Word just out from CES.
AT was showing another turntable in its new range - this time the LP1240USB Manual: I thought I would open up this thread to get any additional information as people find out 4.0 it or even better hear it in use.
Although I have to say we are being a little excessive.
The Technics at 4.0 />Familiarity breeds contempt and the SL1200 has become so common as to set a standard.
It would be interesting if some of our forum electronic wizzes could take a squiz at the speed control circuits of the AT Tables.

This was mated with an Читать далее />The sound was quite acceptable and pleasing.
Did not have my music to put it through it's paces, ie piano solo ie Keith Jarrett, Geo Winston.
It's different when you've got a bunch of D-computer KB-S871 Black USB decks.
They also rumble badily, they hum and the antiskate is https://kolopoka.ru/usb/karbyurator-dlya-benzopili-oleo-mac-937-gs370.html accurate from what I have read and they are made heavy by the use of a lump of metal in the base that serves nothing but to decieve.
I think this new model may be better in some respects than the old, but IMO they missed a great oportunity to to solve 4.0 issues.
A better regulation circuit, sound insulation, better case and address the arm and the bearing isues, the problem is they wont budged from the price point they are aiming at : Regards CL Sophisticated circuitry is cheap nowadays - there is no excuse for that speed control method!
The antiskate is a problem easily and cheaply fixed - again no excuse The hum is the same Rumble may require a slightly more expensive bearing.

I own an AT-LP240.
I bought it because https://kolopoka.ru/usb/cabeus-ftp-4p-cat5e-solid-gy-vitaya-para.html had a 78 speed and 4.0 simple looking styling.
The place that I bought it from has a 45 day return period.
Unfortunately two weeks outside the 45 days I noticed a problem.
When looking at the strobe on 33, I always thought from day one that it was going just a little slow but thought it's got to be my imagination.
This thing is Quartz Locked!
I just purchased a 78 cartridge and installed it.
Got ready to play my first 78 RPM record.
I pressed both 33 and 45 at the same time to switch the LP240 to 78 and the strobe was definitely going slowly counterclockwise.
I then hit 45 and noticed the same thing to a lesser extent, then hit 33 and the same thing to 4.0 even lesser extent.
Apparently 4.0 speed error is magnified by a higher speed.
All this time it was not my imagination.
This thing is calibrated incorrectly.
There is no adjustment to correct it either.
The LP240 has no pitch control like the LP1240.
This is the kind of slop quality control that comes from Audio Technica.
I used my KAB USA strobe to verify that this AT-LP240 definitely runs slow.
Now I'm stuck with a piece of junk!
I took перейти bottom cover off, thinking that there would be a variable resistor that the factory uses to calibrate the speed - NOT!
There is no internal adjustment to calibrate speed deviation.
Audio Technica relies on all the electronics being right on their proper value to achieve proper speed.
It looks like the accumulated tolerance error of all the electronics нажмите для продолжения up to an incorrect speed at the platter.
No way to fix it.
I have read reviews by other people who say that Audio Technica customer service is absolutely abysmal as well.
I don't even know if I want to waste time calling them, then having to pay to ship the piece of junk in for service.
It will probably be looked at by some technician who really doesn't care anyway and will say "we couldn't duplicate the problem".
Just a warning to those who would even consider purchasing an Audio Technica Turntable.
больше информации Technics SL 1200MK2s are running strong and correctly after years if use.
The manufacturer can offer a repair, but you dont have to accept it.
The refund is your right providing it is within a reasonable time.
IMO reasonable is far longer than 2 weeks.
I hope 4.0 rights are similar, it might be worth a google.

Regards CL Thanks, I'll have to check it out.
These Audio Technica Turntable are so poorly built!
I hope I can get a refund.
One particular gentleman read my posting and replied.
I wanted to share it with all of you.
He has the same slow speed problem.
Apparently these Audio Technica turntables are all junk Below is his reply to my review in bold and then my reply to his post: Well, I wish I hadn't read your review, because I checked my LP240, and it is exactly as you described ignorance is bliss after all!
You have to watch for a while to see it at 33 rpms which is all I've used to datebut when set to 78 приведенная ссылка, it is really evident that it is running slow speed indicator dot on platter rotates in counter-clockwise fashion instead of being steady.
As you stated, it runs slow at all three speeds.
I'm going to give AT a call and see what they say.
My Reply to him follows: I really feel for you!
I'm pretty upset about this.
I am an analytical chemist by profession, so I am used to precision.
This AT-LP240 is anything but precise.
I called Audio Technica today from work.
I spoke to a gentleman who said the speed drift was normal.
I said "are you serious"?
I had to argue the point with him.
I said "that is why you put a quartz oscillator into the circuitry, so that there is a reference for speed accuracy".
The gentleman said it will still drift.
I argued again and said that the speed is not drifting, IT IS CALLIBRATED CONSISTANTLY SLOW!
I said my quartz turntables from the 70s are rock solid and my Stanton ST-100 and Stanton ST-150 are right on the money on 78 as well as all other speeds.
My Technics SL-1200MK2 is as well.
I then told the gentleman that I also used a KAB USA quartz strobe disc to check the LP-240 speed and it did show consistantly slow on all speeds!
He then put me on hold.
When he came back on the line he said that he talked to his co-workers and they читать полностью it was defective and that I should send it in for service.
AT this point I called the place where I purchased the LP-240 and they said even though I was past my return period they would exchange it for another LP-240.
Now that you tell me that your LP-240 is calibrated incorrectly as well and has the same problem with the slow speed, I'm going to take an educated guess and say they all do it.
I think we were ripped off.
We paid good money for a product that doesn't and cannot by design deliver.
Who the heck wants a turntable that runs at Провод СИП-2 3х120+1х95 (м) Эм-кабель wrong speed.
I'm guessing by the amount of strobe drift on 78 rpm that the LP-240 is running about 1% slow.
I wanted to use this LP-240 to archive some of my LPs 4.0 78s.
I don't want to permanently digitize them at the wrong speed!
I looked inside and there is absolutely no adjustment to correct speed.
Apparently Audio Technica relies on all the electronic components being exactly at their stated values when building the circuitry.
What we are seeing is an accumulated tolerance error which manifests itself in an 4.0 platter speed.
Looks like we have been taken by the Audio Technica slop quality.
Even 4.0 US law is different?
It may be worth a go.
